January 2023 Book TBR and Ideas to Keep Myself Motivated

I’ve made a deal with myself.

If I read a minimum of 30 pages/day for a duration of 30 days, at the end of each month I’ll buy myself something that I won’t usually splurge on. The most important rule of the game will be that the pages read won’t be cumulated, meaning if I read 100 pages in a day, the next day I’ll still need to read a minimum of 30 pages.

To show how serious I am, I’ve even made a calendar with my future awards.

January:
I will commission a Kogitsune painting for my office
February:
Buy 5 kg of soy wax and learn to make candles
March:
I will commission a Kogitsune amigurumi
April:
Incense sticks from Tibet
May:
LA ROCHE-POSAY cosmetics
June:
Buy a maxi dress from your favorite shop
July:
Buy a nail kit for semi permanent nails
August:
Buy 4 manga
September
Buy yourself a book nook
October:
Save 100$ for Black Friday book sales
November:
Save 100$ for Black Friday book sales
December
Create yourself an Xmas book box
Table of book awards

The books I picked for January to keep me company are:

Thistlefoot by Gennarose Nethercott

Genre: Fairy Tales, Folk Tales, Legends & Mythology

Page count: 448

The Angel’s Game by Carlos Ruiz Zafón

Genre: Historical Fiction, Mystery, Thriller

Page count: 544

Descendant of the Crane by Joan He

Genre: Fairy Tales, Folk Tales, Legends & Mythology

Page count: 432

Other crazy plans to keep me motivated

  1. At the end of every 50 written pages for Fields of Higanbana I’ll book myself a fancy message.
  2. Every 4 months I have to finish 1 non fiction book, otherwise I will forfeit the awards from April, August and December
  3. For every Tik Tok that reaches 10 K views, I’ll buy myself a new paperback or hardback book

I wish everyone a bountiful 2023 filled with good books!

Take care,

Xia

P.S. What crazy ideas have you implemented to keep yourself motivated in 2023?
